Lake Oconee Crappie 10-14-22

Made it to Oconee for a solo trip chasing some big Ol Hand Kandys! Perfect weather and temps with a slight breeze early that didn’t make boat control difficult. Water temps were from 69-73 and the fish are in the timber 10-15 down. The groups are smaller but if you catch one slab, there’s others with them so be patient and thoroughly fish the tree. If the group scatters after catching one, they move to the closest structure but will return in a few minutes if left undusturbed.
The cove mouths had schools of smaller fish or eaters as I call them, laying on the bottom in a pile. They would eat a jig bounced above them and chase a short distance. The bigger fish were present there also, but they were chasing Shad in the open water.
Most are dreaming of horns and back straps, so it’s pretty quiet on the water. Good luck to all and see ya on the water. F2129147-6B25-4E15-8533-72909A5505D2.jpeg41CA7F4E-B346-4C88-B92B-F2AE151FD69A.jpegFDC50B2F-8FEF-419B-AF88-D129A87E4FA5.jpegB3F9385A-58A3-4608-B33E-1B2D20F57381.jpeg

Nice! Thanks for the report. How long did the catfish fight take on a crappie rig?
