Alright guys I built a new house last year in northern Georgia and I’m having one heck of a time getting this yard established. I have done a lot of research this year but first I’m going to give a little background to my place. My lot was All pine and oak. I cleared most of the pines out but left about four oak trees in the yard and the outskirts of the yard are oak trees, so I knew acidity was going to be a problem. I had my yard hydroseeded and had very little results with this. It sporouted but did not do great. Last summer I reseeded the whole yard with 50 lb of y’all fescue (now I realize this is way too little for around 17k sq ft lot of grass). Last fall I also plug aerated the whole entire yard with no results to speak of. This year I’m done with the eye sore I call a yard. I sent a soil sample to University of Georgia and got their recommendations. My soil ph was 4.9. There recommendation was to apply 75
Lbs lime per 1000 sq feet and to apply 15 lb 10-10-10 per 1k sq feet. They did not have recommendations as to what seed to sew. I’m asking you guys, what brand of fertilizer is the best or does it matter? Do I need to use pelletized lime or powder ? What recommendation do you have on seed for this hard and acidic climate? Should I aerate again before doing all the above ? I’m at wits end with this yard !
