New S & W 617 w/ 4" Barrel - Completes My Revolver Renaissance

1eyefishing

...just joking, seriously.
Love it!

My 317 just happened to be on the kitchen counter at the moment...
J frame instead (your) K frame.
Aluminum frame, steel barrel insert and cylinder.
Less than 12 oz.
8 shot.
My trapping and/or put it out of its misery truck gun.

I’ve got a 617 6” 6-shot I got in ‘02.
I’ve hunted squirrels and grouse successfully with it (Wyoming!).
Got a rough grouse at 40yds! Two blue grouse in buddies garage with rat shot…. ~12 feet!
Mine has a perverse preference for Remington Golden .22lr hollow points. So, back when they were $69/1,700rd buckets, I bought 3. Still working on the first…
I’m going back to Wyoming this fall to elk hunt. Already have my small game license so hopefully I’ll run up some more grouse!
Also have a Model 34 2”. So much fun to shoot!

40 yds Nice!! I like the 34 but I'm looking for a mint 18. Good Luck in WY, headed there next year for Elk (if I draw)

Sweet 617. The 4" version is hard to find. It's on top of my S&W wheel gun bucket list.
