Spent an hour walking in the woods today and found a little over 15lbs of chanterelles and a point in a wash.

Im guessing costal plains chert? Found it in Gwinnett county.

Looks more like Bay Branch chert. It`s local to the Laurens County area, and it`s tougher than woodpecker lips.

I don't know what I'd do if I had to process 15 lbs. of chants. I don't see that many in a season. Hope you have a plan for them that doesn't involve eating them in one sitting. ;) Gil

Nic can you identify that point with its base missing?
Or could it be a number of things without the base and difficult to positively id it?

It would be hard to tell as it is. Possible Savannah River, maybe.
