Question about Buck Picture

Just today i got these pictures of this buck. he looks to be fairly beat up and i was wondering if this was natural or if it appears to be from a fight or what. also does his neck still look swollen and would this mean they are still rutting. and finally if the wounds are from fighting would ratlling hurt this late. thanks for any help

he looks very beat scarred which is strange for a younger buck. With his neck swollen, he may be looking for the second does. Rattling never hurts (unless deer are right on you) but rarely helps either
