Question About Hunting The National Forest

Good day,

WMAs seem to have rules about only hunting certain game on certain days, my understanding with the National Forest is that can you hunt anything at any time as long as it's in season and meets the general Georgia regulations right? Also it doesn't seem that there is a ranger station you are supposed to "check-in" prior to the hunt and tag your game at after the hunt, right? Just bag it and write it on your game log?

Grew up hunting private land so this will be my first time hunting public, from what I have gathered on the DNR and US Forestry sites my assumptions above are correct but wanted to get a second set of opinions.

thanks,
