Several military museums in the castle. Some allowed pics. Some not. Also no pics of the crown jewels.

Some weapons on display in the museums. Interesting, probably only to me, no flints installed on any firearms. Assume it's a spark/fire safety concern.

It's amazing that people who we consider primitive could build such huge structures and create such intricately detailed things with such advanced craftsmanship with hand tools that have lasted centuries through wars and mother nature.

Man, this is so cool! Love the museum pics. Shout out to the Bogman.
I would love to see some of that some day. My people were mostly from Scotland and Northumberland.

Rode the open top tour busses and saw the city. 20230615_180319.jpg

Then the Castle. Then the Royal Botanical Gardens where my phone was acting up again. They took pics. Me only 1.

Then back to room to clean up. Tried a little pub with live music. Had tried it last night but no tables. Same tonight. Could have sat at the bar and waited but both nights we were starving. Good breakfast. Lunch not much more than a snack and walking miles each day leaves you with an appetite. Currently at 40 miles over the past 6 days by Son's phone. Tiny takeout only pizza place on the corner by the hotel. We ordered and the man and I think his Son started working dough. Talk about fresh. It was fantastic. 2 12" pizzas, a 12" garlic bread, a kebab, and a salad. I ate like a half starved goat. Figure id lost a few pounds this week with all the walking but that meal changed that.Still plenty left and we're all about to pop. Sunset is at 10:00 and the best place to view it is Calton Hill. Just under a mile and a good bit of elevation change. Off we go. Beautiful spot. Nice sunset. Walk back to hotel around 11. Still not completely dark.20230615_213900.jpg20230615_213910.jpg20230615_215635.jpg20230615_215653.jpg

Checked out. Made 1 last walk along the Royal Mile. Sweet Thang did a little shopping. I even picked up a pewter flask. Then toured St. Giles Cathedral. Of course my phone is finicky again so I'll have to share pics later. This actually gave me time to enjoy the church. Even found a quiet spot to pray. Quite fitting, shortly after we came out, a street musician in full dress was down the street playing Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. The Nurse has been saying she'd give someone 20 pounds to play Thunderstruck on the bagpipes so after that song he took a break and she had a chat with him. Said he has played it but hasn't practiced it lately. Apparently very tiring on the fingers as well. So no go.Told her ACDC has recently hired more bagpipe players for their shows. When he started back playing watched him adjust it. Apparently the stems? twist to change sound. Back on the high speed train to Peterborough.
