Skipping jigs

Any baitcaster but I prefer my Lews Super Duty on a shorter rod than usual. Takes a loooot of practice and I’d use braid as the backlashes are easier to pick out while getting it down. I use a spinning rod when skipping an ocho type worm.

I went out yesterday to practice skipping docks. Kinda wish I knew the braid trick earlier. I brought two reels back needing new line. I can't seem to break myself of trying to skip too hard (fast?). My goal this year is to become proficient at skipping.

make a decent cast...and then put a small piece of electrical tape on you line and reel the line back in. this will help with the backlashes.

make normal cast and don't over power.

Tons of good youtube videos on skipping. Search Gmans skipping jigs videos.

I've watched his videos. It's insane how far under a dock he can get his jigs. He makes it look so effortless.
