Something different...

Okay we've all heard this song a million times, but this band does it justice pretty well. Long intro, the meat of the song itself kicks in about halfway through.

This Roger Miller song, written from a simpler time. Hum. I imagine Jerry Lee Lewis singing this, or some French-Belgian singer maybe like Jacques Brel.

Nice harmonies! But with my hearing loss I couldn't make out the lyrics. :(
I have the same problem. I usually google the lyrics... and listen to the music while reading them. I'm gona post a vid if I can find it where doing this makes what is good music into excellent music for the lyrics being understood. I notice my wife likes some songs that I don't care for until I listen while reading the lyrics...

I can't find the lyrics for this?
I think this would be them? I'm not 100% sure though.

Chan Chan

Buena Vista Social Club
From Alto Cedro I'm going to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
From Alto Cedro I'm going to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
From Alto Cedro I'm going to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
The affection I have for you
I can't deny it
I'm drooling
I can't help it
When Juanica and Chan Chan
Sand sifted through the sea
How the jibe shook
Chan Chan felt sorry for him
Clear the path of straw
That I want to sit down
In that trunk that I see
And so I can't get there
From high cedar I go to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
From high cedar I go to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
From high cedar I go to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
From high cedar I go to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
From high cedar I go to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari
From high cedar I go to Marcané
I'm going to Cueto, I'm going to Mayari

Thats ^ really a great way of doing it. And I agree, understanding the words can make all the difference in whether a song strikes a chord within you or not.
Although words arent necessary for a song to be good.

So it was Chan Chan! Very haunting music Buena Vista Social Club . And now your Chan Chan harmonica vid is genius! Funny how that works?

Yes I figured Sam being Sam the song would go off the rails, but I'd never heard him sing before - he had a decent singing voice!
Yeah he sings way better than you would think.
I cant help but wonder what his old congregation thought about his new comedy career.
