Sometimes size doesn’t matter

My father was coming up for a vacation trip to the mountains and I suggested that they come by for the weekend to go try for a bird.

We headed over to some public land nearby where we had some success last year. The air was cool and the skies clear. At 7:00am we heard are first bird on a far ridge and started off after him.

I was playing cameraman today with hopes of capturing my father shooting a bird or at least a good chase.

After the first bird lost interest we had another bird answering us across a large creek bottom and on a pine ridge. After we made are way across to him we setup for about a 30 min call fest.

This bird was gobbling hard and strong for about 20 mind and then went silent. We sat tight and I could see my father shouldering his gun and it was over.

Ended up being a “Super Jake” with a thick 4” beard and quarter inch spurs. In the end it doesn’t matter because it was a great hunt and more memories made.

Will edit video and post later. For now enjoy the photos!
