Stevens 301 .410 choke/load combo?

I picked up one of these lil single shot turkey guns yesterday. Anyone have any experience with a choke/ shell combo that patterns well in this gun? I bought a box of Federal TSS 9's, hopefully they do ok with the factory choke. As hard as it is to find ammo right now it'll be tough to test a lot of different loads so if anyone has any experience with this gun I'd appreciate any advice.

I set one up last year for turkey hunting. Just went back and looked at the pattern pictures. Factory choke wasn't to good in mine. But I put in an Indian Creek 390 and and this is the results.
Foxtrot 383 Stroker 9 1/2's 197 in the 10 at 40
Federal #9 TSS 109 in the 10 at 40
Foxtrot #9 TSS 144 in the 10 at 40
Apex #9 1/2's 144 in the 10 at 40

I was skeptical but went with the Foxtrot 383 Strokers. Had no problem killing birds. Longest shot was 35 yards, and now know 40-45 wouldn't be a problem. Even with succesfully killing turkeys I was still a little apprehensive about shooting 9 1/2's. Seemed awful small to me. Then I had a chance to shoot at a hog with the 383 Strokers. 25 yards, one shot. He just slowly spun around three times and fell over dead. After that I never felt under gunned while turkey hunting.

Thanks. I need to see if I can get my hands on some of those 383's. Saw something about them on another forum too.

Yes. He has a website Foxtrot Ammo. If you don't have any luck there let me know and I'll pm you his cell number to text to see when he's going to be loading more. He's usually pretty good about responding.

FoxTrot legend #9.5x10 with a .390 Indian creek. They will be hard to get, but should do highest pattern count over anyone. A 1oz .410 load. I’ve got some of his Legends in #9.5 I haven’t patterned.

I went to Indian Creek website going to order me one of those. Then I saw the choke cost about as much as the gun did.

Yeah those IC chokes are kinda steep. Hoping I get decent results with my factory choke. I saw earlier that Jeb's has a TSS load on the market now.

#9's took a hog down! That's incredible. I'll never underestimate a .410 again.

Sumtoy will have .410 chokes in most common thread patterns. That’s what I have in my Yildiz. They produce them in spurts, give them a call as to what they have in stock. Your smith can thread the barrel to fit the choke.
