Anyone got any tips? Headed down there the week after the 4th fora few days. Hoping to spend my early mornings on the beach seeing if I can catch anything worth keeping.

Go to You Tube and search for "richtroxler" - This guy has a little mini series on "Reading the Beach" that is very, very informative. Also, don't be afraid of artificials for surf fishing. Sometines speckled trout and even spanish can be right behind the breakers waiting for disoriented baitfish to get washed back out. It's not always about chiunking a piece of bait as far as you can. Get a 3/8 - 1/2 oz jig head and put a 4" gulp swiming mullet on it and work it close to the bottom for flounder.

And don't forget about Tybee's pier, it's pretty nice and there is a lot to be caught out there. If there are any spanish in yet, you can go about 2/3 of the way out and chunk a rip bait out as far as you can and rip it back in a pulsing motion. Spanish and bluefish love it.
