The Truck-Buck contest is back for the 33rd year, and in addition to longtime sponsors who have been with us for decades, some great companies have joined the party to support deer hunting in Georgia. Thanks to Savage Arms, we will give away 12 deer rifles. And thanks to new sponsor Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment, the second-best shot in the Shoot-Out earns a Firminator G-3 food plot implement. Plus, Rugged Road Outdoors is throwing in their soft-sided coolers to our wildcard and Youth Big-Buck Contest prize packages.

Our grand-prize winner receives a truck from John Megel Chevrolet.

The best-scoring buck each week of deer season earns a huge weekly prize package—a bow, rifle or a CVA Paramount muzzleloader, plus an HSS safety harness and a bag of Draw attractant and Corn Spike products from 4S Advanced Wildlife Solutions. And along with Rugged Road Outdoors and Agri Supply, 4S and HSS also sponsor our wildcard categories. The wildcards are for the highest-scoring buck by a youth, lady or public-land hunter who doesn’t win a week. There is also a Runner-Up Wildcard for the highest-scoring buck that doesn’t win a week (the best second-place buck of any week). The four wildcard winners get a $250 gift card from Agri Supply, a Rugged Road cooler, 4S products, and an HSS safety harness.

Make sure your GON subscription is up-to-date. And also make sure to thank each and every one of our Truck-Buck contest sponsors.

Entering the GON Truck-Buck contest is simple. First, be a GON member, which means you have a paid subscription to the magazine. When you kill a buck, take digital photos before you cape the buck. Then go to www.gon.com and fill out the online entry form and upload your pictures. The online entry process is simple, but if the Internet isn’t your thing, hunters can still enter the old-fashioned way by filling out the entry form on page 66 of this magazine and mailing the entry and photos to the GON office. Next to the entry form on page 67 are the complete official rules for the contest.

Rule No. 1: you can’t kill a buck, then subscribe, and try to enter. Also, if you are 23 and living with your parents, you need to buy your own subscription. Only dependent kids (claimed as dependent on parents’ taxes) can enter on a subscription. Grandparents, please buy a gift subscription for the grandkids! The kids even have their own contest. See below for info on our Youth Big-Buck Contest, where the winner of the Youth Big-Buck Contest Shoot-Out gets a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors, plus a weekend hunt with Woods-N-Water. The highest-scoring buck entered by a kid each week of deer season earns a Locked-On 360 gun viseand a premier 30-can soft-sided cooler from Rugged Road Outdoors.

The Truck-Buck contest is divided into scoring periods that coincide with the weeks of deer season. Each week, the best buck entered statewide wins prizes and earns a spot in the Shoot-Out. You don’t have to kill the biggest buck in the state, just the highest-scoring buck during a week of the deer season.

Take a few minutes to thank the Truck-Buck sponsors. And when you do business, do so with the folks who support us and Georgia hunting.

Don’t miss out on this awesome big-buck contest. Simply be a paid GON magazine subscriber, kill a buck, take photos, and then enter at www.gon.com.

I came 1 7/8 of a inch from winning a week in 2015 . Then the 2016 season I killed a decent 8pt the next to last week of season and didn’t even think about entering him . And just my luck no one entered a buck that week. This is gonna be the year though .
