Gone but not forgotten.
When God speaks you better listen. You may ask how does God speak to us? He speaks to us through his complete and finished Word, the Bible. It's God word to the world, a revelation of himself to us to bring us to himself. To reject God's word is to reject him and all he has to offer.
God wants to give life to dead people. This world is full of walking dead. All are dead in sin and born into sin. Romans 5:12 states it that by one man (Adam) sin entered the world and death by sin, and so death passed upon ALL men, for that all have sinned. In Psalm 51:5 the Psalmist proclaimed that I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Now the question. Can a dead person do anything to save himself? The answer is no. You're powerless to do anything and as the Word of God says in Roman's 3:10-18 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Now the important question. How can God give life to dead people? Through the power of his word and believing what he says. As the Apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 1:23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." Believing in what God says is Faith in what God says. In Romans 10:17 the Apostle Paul wrote that faith is by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
The word which we are born of is Faith in Jesus Christ. As the Apostle John wrote is John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
This sinless spotless lamb of God came into this world to save us dead sinners. We are saved by his grace. Roman 3:24 "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" He died for our sins, He purchased us with his own precious blood, redeeming us with it. Eternal life came into the world and gave his life for you and me. As stated in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."
So to be made alive from the dead, born again, is to have Faith in what Gods says and that is that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead. His death was our death, his burial was our burial, his resurrection is our resurrection. The Spirit of God, God's word identifies us with Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. In 2 Corinthians 12:13 it states "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body,(THE LORD JESUS CHRIST) whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." This is God's work and not ours, it's all faith in what God has done for the believer in Christ and we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, complete in him, accepted in him and beloved of God in him and him alone. Salvation is of the Lord, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
