When do You Start Listening

Curious when y’all start hearing turkeys gobble off the roost?

March is looking busy on my end, I’ll probably have to do most of my scouting in February. Wondering if it’s worth listening for gobbles at that point or if I should just be sleeping in and looking for tracks, feathers, and scat.

I used to listen for the random gobble in Feb back when I was mad at them. It’s not very productive and they move a whole lot before season. Especially now that our season opens too late.

I will listen a couple of days before youth season, maybe.

Where you find turkeys in February probably won’t be where you find turkeys in April. That’s my experience in the last 20 years anyways.

I’ll start listening a couple weeks before season . Mostly because I just love to hear them . I’ve hunted the same areas for several years and usually find them in the same spots .
