If you are mad cuz you lease next door to a farmer killin deer, then get with the farmer and ask to kill some or move to a new lease. Really that simple. As far as the national forest goes, looks like we need a good many years of bear and coyote killing to get the predators under control, but not many people interested.

Like shutting down doe harvest on CNF? We did that, give it a minute to see how much it helps. Takes a lot longer for it to work when folks don't read the regulations, lots of does still being killed up there.
That was too little, too late and you know it.
We are stuck in a downward spiraling predator sink now with only two ways out.
Killing more predators, and supplementing the deer population.
Both are methods you have said “don’t work”.
So using common sense what you are really saying is you’re not going to do a dang thing.

Nearly 630,000 people hunt in Georgia. Its not possible to accommodate everyone . Thank you C.Killmaster for your efforts.
The 270 acres of property next to me has permits for the ag land. I don't believe all the rules are followed correctly but that's not my business. I do know that there are more deer on my property though. I built a refuge for them and they are using it. I could just sit and complain but chose to capitalize on the situation.

If bears are overpopulated killing a bunch of fawns legalizing bear bait would be a good start to reducing the bear numbers.
Or allow bears to be killed by permit when causing agricultural damage?
We’re giving permits to kill deer causing farmer losses in the southern part of the state, meanwhile farmers in the mountains have their crops absolutely devastated by bears and they can’t shoot them like the deer down south.
How does that make any sense? I’ve tried growing a sweet corn patch for years only to have it massacred by a bear in one night.

That’s called poaching whether anyone finds out or not. Ain’t gonna happen

There's a fine thread on that very topic floating around here somewhere. Im not saying admit it, or even admit that it's a possibility. I'm just saying there is a solution available to get that corn growing..........just hope it ain't wearing a collar or being tracked by other means.

They do. And if they fill the tags quick enough, the game wardens then start trapping them. They also issue permits to kill deer in the apple orchards up here. There are lots of apple orchards up here....

If I had a nuisance animal destroying my property I wouldn't reach out to DNR for their advice no more then I would call an exterminator for a squirrel getting into my attic.

Once an animal destroys property, it's a varmint. And varmint's will be dealt with accordingly.

I’m 57 years old so not a lot of minutes left. So you’re saying that you know that a lot of people are killing deer illegally and we never see any game wardens around, maybe this is another part of the problem. Pretty sure it’s been proven that the no doe days isn’t going to do anything as there’s not been any doe days on our North Georgia WMAs in about the last 8 or 10 years and there’s still not many deer on them. Shutting down doe days after the population is this low is a day late and a dollar short. It really feels like this was the plan all along, no deer equals not having to check anyone or going to calls for any kind of illegal hunting. Forest service isn’t going to do anything and predators aren’t going away so I haven’t heard anything but what will not work and not any solutions. So to recap we have poor habitat, predators, 4 months of season, 12 tags, no game law enforcement, baiting, crossbows in archery season, scopes on muzzleloaders and you can hunt with a air rifle, only thing that’s left is to open season year round and get it over with instead of dragging it out. Nothing wrong with any of these but when you put it all together it equals fewer deer. Not talking about private land here but public that anyone and everyone hunts. I’m sure you get tired of the complaining but not seeing much effort on making any real changes .

Bingo.
There haven’t been doe days for many years on mountain WMAs. If that works like you have suggested then why hasn’t it worked on the WMAs? Doe harvest during archery was negligible when it was allowed on these areas.
You’re filling us full of the same ol cheap talk that we’ve heard for years and not doing a thing about it. No effort in the form of actions whatsoever.

Unfortunately, I can't do what needs to be done. Believe it or not I'm on your side here, we just disagree on what is needed to fix the problem. I will certainly concede that there were some poor regulatory decisions made in the past, but I won't own them because they weren't my decisions.

Only reason why I got on this forum was because you asked how is it so mismanaged and I’ve tried with my limited vocabulary to express my opinion that I think a lot of hunters in the mountains have. Sorry but it doesn’t feel like you’re on our side and I’m sure it’s difficult job and as you told me one time I’m uninformed on details but I know what I’ve been seeing for the last 10 or so years and it is only getting worse. I honestly don’t think there’s anything that will bring our deer back from where they are now. Just because poor decisions were made doesn’t mean we have to keep them and again I’m not seeing anything changing. Thank you for taking the time to communicate with us but your answers tell me that nothing is going to change up here. No need to reply, I’m done.
