I had three on me this evening. Never got within range though. 40 yards was as close as the big one got.

Got my 11 yr old son in the stand again. I took him out of school for the week so he could get his first buck after losing a nice one he shot last year.
Opening morning youth nice tall 6 or 7 point the gun misfires. Wednesday night a huge 8 point in the clear cut at 6:50 and he couldn’t get on it good enough to be comfortable shooting, total heart breaker watching it happen telling him when ever your ready. Last night a decent 6 but again didn’t pull trigger because I guess he couldn’t get on it good.
I think making that bad shot last year has him trigger shy it. But shot was my fault not his I rattled one in and it was leaving and grunt stopped it and instead of saying whenever your ready I said “shoot it”

Props to your son if he held off because he didn't feel 100% comfortable. BIG props. Knowing when to hold is critical in being a great hunter. Perhaps your son is on his way to developing into just that.
