The first new 1911 I bought was roughly 25 or so years ago. I was probably one of the first guns cliff brown the owner of Dixie Ammo Dump sold when he first started his business. The first Family Dollar store I built was in dalton Georgia 22 years ago this time of year. My 1911 was a Colt 1991A1 model and was stolen off the job site in dalton ga in 2001. This gun made it to NYC and was used in a crime it was recovered and after a lengthy process returned to me. I carry this gun daily in the truck. It’s not much to look at but it is dependable and I’d bet my life on it

I had a friend lose a 1911 to a thief like nine years ago… it also was returned after a crime in NY. He was notified almost immediately but it took 18 months before he held it in his hands. I think they kept it until trial was over.

I hope you keep it locked behind more than glass when it's not on your hip. A vehicle security box/ vehicle safe that'll stop a smash and grab doesnt cost much more than a box of good ammo And will keep her where she belongs.

I've got a Springer 1911 that was stolen from my house and been floating around out there for over ten years now. I don't expect to ever see it again. It was last seen with a Ruger Blackhawk .44 mag that also will probably never be seen again.

Plenty more reasons out there. But just that one is enough.

BTW.... Glad that 1911 finally made it's way home.
