I'm still guessing about a 99.999999999999999999999999999% chance it was a groundhog.

Ouch! Some guys I used to bear hunt with went up to Michigan bear hunting one year. Their dogs, of course, had never seen a porcupine. They wound up like that.

That would be a spectacle. I think fishers kill and eat porcupines pretty regular.

People are known to bring animals from other locations and they end up escaping into the wild.
Alligators are a prime example.

That's part of the reason they introduced fishers in Pa. awhile back. I like them but understand hunters with dogs who haven't broke them from porkys. Expensive doctor bills.
