If it’s a ditch then it up like a gauntlet. Put 5-6 snares in a row every 15-20 ft apart. I caught a couple like that before

Did a bit of recon, and found two very well used crossings where he's getting into and out of my ditch. Looks like he's staying in the ditch to go back and forth to his two dam sites.
Already got a half a dozen spots picked out to nab him.
Now I just got to get the snares, get em set, and get lucky!!! ?

Well, I tore his dams out a week ago, and I have pretty much drained his swamp.
I have ZERO evidence of beaver activity since then.
I reckon he's gone again. Sure glad I didn't rush to set snares... ?
What y'all think is going on with him?

Sometimes for some reason, that I can't explain, that happens. I have went to set up a beaver job and see the beaver while I was setting traps only to not see any sign for two weeks. I ended up pulling my traps and I would check it periodically and there was still no sign of it!

He was just trying to fix you and them 2 boys a place to shoot ducks . Realized you didn’t appreciate his effort and moved on ?

I hate to kill Beavers cause I'm a Duck Hunter they have a place in the wild, and even there they cause problems. Trapped some in High School and learned how to shoot them in the dark long before the days of night vision and thermal. They are big problems on golf course lakes or areas near nice homes with landscaping
I had one or more dam up a small creek and build me a beautiful "pond". There were ducks in it before and I bet its a duck haven now. I didn't hunt it last year but will try this year.
I don't mind the dams and pons its the eating and chewing and killing the dang trees.
I wouldn't mind trapping them and just leaving the pond.

I know where there's a bunch of them on the old city reservoir. I see them all the time catching turtles.

I believe southern beavers all go to the hatter market. You’re looking at $5-$15 a piece probably on the top end most likely. That’s after skinning at a minimum and probably going through the effort of fleshing and drying too
