Browning Hawg Muzzle brake for BLR

I'm looking for an opinion. I have a BLR in .308 that's a take down gun. I'm interested in the Hawg muzzle brake . Browning says some calibers, 76% recoil reduction. I've got a stock barrel , not threaded. Should I see a gunsmith to thread mine or buy factory or aftermarket new barrel??
Any comments on the Hawg system?
