Grace is not only a perfect position given to us but a perfect power that works in us that teaches us how to live. It is by our belief (faith) in Christ that our old self has been crucified and buried, our new self has been resurrected and joined together with God. Our new spiritual union with Him makes us obedient from the heart, from within, from our true self.

So, it’s very important that we know this truth and we take advantage of it by seeing that we have a new changed heart. We have been made completely new and we are now completely different at the very core of our being.

The real us is not the one we see, or the one we can train to behave righteously. The real true us is the one we received at our new birth which is empowered by the Holy Spirit in us. He is in us and we are in Him. We are now in a perfect eternal marriage union with Jesus Christ (the creator of the universe) where the two (Christ and us) have become one for all of eternity. This eternal marriage union between Him and Us is what God has joined together, that no man can separate (especially not even ourselves). This is very good news and once we get an understanding of this marriage union and the truth that this union is now our identity for ever, for eternity because of Jesus, we will be at peace and rest.

The false teaching of the religious message keeps us in an identity that changes with our human effort and our human behavior. If we believe this then we will always be working against grace and our true identity. Once we understand that our new identity is not from anything we do in our human flesh, but it is completely by our new birth and it is completely based on our marriage union with Christ that happens by our belief (faith) in Christ as our savior, we will begin to rest and walk in clarity and confidence in our new identity.

Once we are in this place we will get a revelation of the Love of the Father that will change our way of thinking. We will be in a place of receiving and not a place of working. We will be in a place of thankfulness and not a place of indebtedness. We will be in a place as a son and not a servant. This will ultimately lead us to trusting our union with Christ more than we trust our human performance.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
