Creek/River Edge

I posted this in the Deer Hunting forum but this is probably the better place to ask.

What type of grass is this that's growing near a pretty decent size creek? From creek it's probably 30-40 yards wide available follows the creek. Do deer graze it?

Don't know what type it is but OI doubt the deer graze it,
From what I have read they really don't eat much grass, could be wrong though.
I'm sure they will bed in though, be cool for them during the hot summer.

I want to maximize food any way I can. If they don't eat it I'd like to plant something that they do.

I'd get busy on a food plot. That dirt is too good to waste.

That's the plan but I can't start doing anything until 6/1. What herbicides could I use? I want to be safe being that there is water nearby.

Whatever you use it needs to be a warm day with no rain for a few days.
