Here is one of the more helpful things I've learned about how to read scripture.
When we read looking for direction about behavior, or treat Scripture as an instruction manual or an encyclopedia of conduct, we will find frustrating contradictions and an overwhelming lack of clarity.
Instead, I've learned to look for prophesy and shadows of Jesus,
promises to the righteous,
insight into who Father has made us and what that looks like in our everyday life.
Reading to find behavior instructions leads to bondage.
Reading to find Jesus, what He has done, and how that affects us, leads to freedom.
That's the way of grace. It tears down strongholds and breaks chains.
