I float manana

...just joking, seriously.
Rough ride out after gathering up some bait... Store bought shrimp and shallow water netted some mullet and pin fish.
Grouper, cobia, and flounder were the likely victims and they did not disappoint...
I spent most of the day in rare puny form after spending too much time with my head down the floor straightening out our first green cobia in pretty rough choppy conditions. Maybe my late night yacking and drinking with my buddy had something to do with that... no breakfast and all...
I played background captain most of the day and didn't fish much. Only the second time I ever got the sea-queezies.20240523_130549.jpg20240523_130643.jpg

My friend's little buddy and 17 year old fishing protege had a great day with first gag, PB flounder, first cobe, 4 or 5 spanish.20240523_133434.jpg20240523_134352.jpg

He also lost the biggest and best cobe of the day after having it at boatsides before it dove down into the structure below and hung us up before breaking off.
We also lost a pretty good king after a long drag peeling run before the thirty pound leader was cut from underneath the bobber.

Much fun had by all...

Promised a story so here goes. Battery to start boat powers depth finder, bilge, etc. Left everything on all day. Started in and slow to start boat but got it going. Got back to the ramp and beached the boat. Got to truck to find I had left lights on all day. So I walk back to boat and get 1 of tm batteries since start battery was weak. Walk back. Jumper cables. Not enough juice. Have plenty of cables with ring ends in boat for batteries in series for tm plus a few spares. Tide is going out. Push boat out a little. Grab wires and 2nd tm battery. Lug back to truck. Getting a bit heavy. Wire batteries parallel to get more amps. Still no dice. Back to boat. Push boat out a little more. Grab 3rd battery and start back to truck. Did I mention I have to pee like a racehorse. Outhouse at other end of parking lot but tide is still going out and only 2 trucks left and gate closes soon. 3rd battery all wired parallel then jumper cables to truck battery. Still no Bueno. Okay now suspecting jumper cables. Take battery out of truck and drop in boat starting battery. Fires right up. Change back as I need it to start boat and load up. Get down ramp. Boat is now 1/3 on dry land. Lift bow and push. Gain a little. Repeat. Eventually it's floating. Beach lightly. Grab battery from back of truck. By now I'm tired and my back is slightly angry from carrying deep cycle batteries. Wade out and set battery in and lean in and start attaching wires. Suddenly realize rear of boat is pivoting toward me and as my feet are both now underneath its pushing me over. Instinctively I try to right myself by pressing the inside of the gunwell. Wrong. Just pulled it to me. So I managed to run myself over, albeit on partially, with a beached boat. Got loaded and back without any more fanfare but phone only works on speaker now.

Rested up today.Cleaned the boat in the slip and the trailer at my fish camper... because it didn't have a boat on it.
Clean boat ready to go tomorrow. Don't know which direction yet... I have two offers out for passengers and no confirmation yet...

Hit Keaton yesterday before the hoIMG_20240524_065123698.jpgIMG_20240525_085142833.jpgliday rush.
Had a two man limit on trout before 10.
Released another limit or two, headed up shallow for redfish but only one short and sail cats.
Ladyfish were thick and had to move several times to get away from them while trout fishing.
Beautiful day on the water.

Slept in. Rocky's for breakfast. 20240525_095429.jpgWife wanted a beach day. Headed west. She wanted clear water and white sand. Ended up at the Cape. Im not really a beach guy but Don Rickles called me a narcissist. You'll have to search that one in the cafe if you are interested. 20240525_135549.jpg

Took fishing gear but didn't get it out. Several fishing but all I saw caught was a couple ladyfish. Left and went to Hunts for oysters. While waiting watched this young lady sing. Said she is normally the bartender. She puts on a good show.20240525_170218.jpg

Gimme some of them oysters and fried mushrooms, and I'll gladly drink your socialist gluten-free beer. :bounce:
