Was going to check a camera this evening and slipped up on this herd. Wasn’t armed but practiced my stalking for when the season opens. Got to within 40yds before they winded me.

Please tell me why you didn’t have your.22! Dude! Did you not think you might run into one? I’m considering taking the .22 mag and hunting pigs next week, instead of deer! I haven’t seen many pigs lately, but I’m gonna hit a few places next week that have been inaccessible for me for quite some time. I remember where they used to hang out…..gonna start there! I think I’ll scout some deer locations while I’m small game hunting!

Squirrel season opened Aug 15. I've been hunting the Cohutta WMA with a scoped 22 mag; seen 2 hogs, so far (one was probably 250, the other maybe 100lbs), but I was not fast enough for a clean shot, either time, so I didn't take it. With a 22, if I can't get my crosshairs either between and above the eyes, or else in or right behind the ear, I'm not pulling the trigger; too old to go chasing. Bow season opened Saturday.
