I shared this in someone else’s thread and decided to start my own . Hopefully I can share some pictures of it with some ears of corn on it . Just maybe I can stick a big buck coming to it in a few months . I just fertilized it good about 10 days ago and plowed it . It’s round up ready but being new ground I’m getting hardly any weeds . I’m hoping just to apply nitrogen to it once and be done. First picture in June 1 when planting IMG_3203.jpeg

Very nice! I didn’t spray my RR field corn this year, just plowed tween the rows. I’ll prolly regret that come dove season when I can’t find birds in it.

Just curious, U growing this just for a deer food plot? Doves?

Sure is a pretty place where you are cultivating that corn field, good luck with it. My Grandma used to roast field corn in the oven for me when I was a kid on the farm, it sure was good eating. It isn't bad cut off the cob and cooked in a pot either.

Yes sir , just for deer . Got a few acres of sorghum planted in the same field . Just for deer also. Tried planting peas and soybeans and such for a summer food plot and the deer just want let them grow . Actually just me and my dad killing time . He enjoys growing stuff and feeding the deer more than hunting them .

Do the deer leave that corn n sorgum alone enough for it to seed out? Or is it just like a hay/silage crop where it never makes ears.

They want touch the sorghum until it matures most of the time . We’ve been planting it for several years . My first time planting corn and taking care of it . Wish I would of got it planted sooner

Ant at our old place in north Fla a farmer always had a corn field and planted it late. Can’t remember when but each time I would say that corn is not going to make. Every year it was just as pretty a corn u would want to see. Dried on the stock. He had a few cows. Behind his house in one field I always seen it looked like 50 deer at the time. I have always wanted to try a late crop like that. Just never done it.
I guess yours is for doves.

We grew sorghum every year until I was in college. We would cut the heads off in October and leave piles of them laying in the field. Deer would eat on those heads all winter long.
