I like the color mine has now which is very close to what you have in your pretty place . but if they want to change I don't mind .

I hate the current trends too. House exteriors and interiors are white, gray or black.
Boring, I like the wood look. My floors are wood and look like wood, my cabinets are wood and look like wood. My walls are sheet rock and light brown. My exterior is T111 and barn red. Will replace it sometime, thinking a concrete log siding (https://www.everlogs.com/everlog-concrete-log-siding/) or just barn metal.

The siding guys have got started and it's looking great , another couple of days then painting starts .

Yes sir-Love the board and batten/shakes look. Did real cedar shingles on my gables and dormers about 5 years ago. Replaced the siding with hardie board, but not board & batten pattern.
That’s going to look great no matter the color I’m sure!

I like that look on a house in the woods. A few around this area with a darker grey color. I like it.

We are almost done but weather has slowed things , still need to hang shutters back up and put another coats on decking but the project is looking good .
