If I catch one like that in a big stream at lower elevations, especially a stream where there is a possibility of holdover stockers, I admire it as a nice fish, but don't think too much about it. Up there, at nearly 4,000' elevation in a tiny trickle of a stream miles and miles back inside the National Park, it was indeed a fine, fine fish. In over 40 years of fishing such little creeks, it's definitely one of the nicer wild rainbows I've caught in a small mountain stream on a dry fly.
