I bought my daughter a new Lodge flat round griddle. I seasoned it for her. I fried an egg in it and I must say it did as good as my older griddle.
Both are as smooth as glass.
So even a new Lodge pan or griddle will make a great family heirloom to pass on down.

I'm not sure how well their pre-seasoned stuff works.

I have several pieces that were my mama's. She always told me to look for Wagner & Griswold cast iron.
