Pleasant Surprise

Vernon Holt

Gone But Not Forgotten
Had a pleasant surprise visit from a fellow Woodite yesterday. The one and only Stumpshooter was traveling thru N. Ga. on his way to his native Tennessee. He interrupted his travels long enough to come by for a nice visit.

Stump has several things going for himself. He is noted on Woody's as a very good nature photographer, ready and willing to share his handiwork. He is a career Air Force serviceman who served in Afghanistan and is now serving as an instructer, teaching young men the finer points of his specialty. He was on his way to attend a Continuing Educational Course which will make him eligible for a raise in grade. We wish him well.

He became part of the Woody gang while stationed at Valdosta. He blended well into the hunting scene in Southwest Georgia until a transfer removed him from the scene. He is now stationed in Eastern North Carolina where he has adapted his hunting techniques to fit the Pocosin Country of the Coastal Plain of N. C. By the way, he is currently on a hunting lease that costs him less than $200 per annum.

GON-Woody's is much the better off by having men such as Stumpshooter among our ranks. Stump, we hope that you can find time to be more active on the Forums. Stump is already thinking of retiring in a few years, moving back to his native Tennessee, and perhaps embarking on a new career as a School Teacher. Hopefully he will follow through as he is the type that every parent would want to teach their children.

Thanks to Stump for taking time to visit. Yes, we did sit on the porch and got better acquainted while watching and listening to the patter of rain which we happened not to need at the time.

No doubt Stumpshooter thoroughly enjoyed his visit with you and Ms Billi. I'll bet he found it hard to leave the comforts the front porch offered him and the wisdom you had to share.

Thanks Mr. Vernon for being so hospitable to all of us here at Woody's. I am a richer man because of it.
