I have heard that bears and pigs are distant cousins and the meat tastes similar. Is that true?
To me, bear tastes more like a sweet roast beef, might be all the berries and fruit they eat here

Actually, I think they are kin to coons and dogs. This stuff was very good. It reminds me of beef pot roast, but with a more intense, richer flavor. Texture was like beef.

I could have made a fine supper with just the bear, gravy, and biscuits!

Bear and softshell turtle are two of my favorites,in the hands of a good cook.

Wild game is worlds better than even the best farm-raised meat, but it takes a special touch to make it tender. Important to us old folks!

How'd you cook it brother? Like a pot roast?

My cousin grilled a bear backstrap on a big green egg. He marinated it overnight, sliced about 3/4 inch. Was as good a wild game meat as I've ever eat.
I did backstrap on the grill, melt in your mouth
