South Dakota duck hunting?

We are going to Mitchell SD in November of this year to pheasant hunt. We also plan to grab our duck stuff in case we find some birds. My question is what is needed for our license? I saw the federal duck stamp which is what we already get here in Virginia but it looks like you have to fill out a application as a non resident? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

The draw odds aren’t too bad from what I remember. I think it’ll really depend when in November you go and how the weather has been. I was just there the last week of November and saw not a single duck in Aberdeen or Mitchell. We did see a bunch of Canadas and a few rafts of divers on the Missouri near Pierre and that was it. They’d had a big freeze the week before that must’ve pushed all the birds south. We saw tons of birds in Nebraska/Iowa on our way through.
