Time change

I'm the exact opposite. I hate going to work in the dark and getting home at dark. I don't give a crap what time it gets daylight in the morning because it's always dark when I leave anyway, but some daylight after I get home is sure nice. I'd be happy if they put it on DST and left it there. Darkness at 5:30 PM sucks.
When I am up at the hizzle in the hills, summertime means sun at 6am, daylight at 540. Thought about blacking out our bedroom but I am an early bird anyways having been waking up at 5am everyday for almost 3 decades.

I`ve never like change of much any kind, and I cannot stand this new time. I think I`ll just start going by the sun. And throw away all my clocks.
One of the very few things I disagree with you about. I absolutely hate the dark at 5:30 in the wintertime time. It absolutely depresses me to almost never see my home in the daylight for three months of the year. I wish they ran DST all year. If I didn't have to go to work, it wouldn't much matter one way or the other. A little less than 3 years.

It gets dark early in winter and light longer in summer. Clocks cant change that.

No, but they can still change the apparent "time" that it gets dark in relation to our daily schedule. Time is an artificial construct, true, but in our world, we have no choice but to live by the clock if we choose to make a living by being employed.

Some people just ignore DST I am not a fan of it but I can adjust. Being retired here for the past 24 years come May I can still mostly do what I want when I want so no big deal. I still go to bed every nite between 8 and 9 pm and get up with the Chickens, always have,, always will.

Yup you're right, and when they change it to daylight saving time it just means that the folks who work by the sun get home later than they would a week ago. By the clock that is. Its stupid. They should leave it alone, and standard time balances the day by the clock better than DST.

IMO no one, or at least 95%+ of people, likes the concept of changing the time twice a year. Some people may like DST better (@NCHillbilly) or prefer standard time (@Nicodemus) but I think most people would like to go to one time and be done with it.

The disruption it causes in our lives is very real, beyond the obvious changing of about 6-8-10 clocks/watches. (I ate lunch yesterday at 1:30 and had supper at 7:30. Why? Because that's when my body clock told me it was hungry. I also went to bed at 1:00 AM.)

So why don't we put this on the November election ballot:

1. I would prefer that we do away with the spring and fall time changes and use Standard Time the whole year.

2. I would prefer that we do away with the spring and fall time changes and use Daylight Savings Time the whole year.

3. I would prefer that we continue changing the time in the spring and fall.

Let the people vote and be done with it.
