Part of the problem is that too many folks don't look at the full balance sheet and only focus on their own part of it, often because of greed.
Wind turbines are a perfect example. A potentially good idea ruined by using blades that just about can't be destroyed, reused, or recycled, thereby negating any clean energy or costs savings they made in the course of their lifetime. Am I to believe that a recyclable turbine blade couldn't be created?
Yeah things like that come to pass because people really cant bring themselves to have less "stuff." So they chase their tail trying to figure out how to create more things to solve that instead of just using less things. Another example of that would be Teslas and bamboo flooring. You could just buy a Geo metro and keep your old floor, but no! We have to BUY stuff to save the planet.

Sounds like an argument for realigning incentives.

This is what has to happen. Period. We have to make other things besides profit and development and growth matter. We have to achieve this without becoming leftist tyrants.
Sounds tricky.

I've always been a proponent of trying to change people's minds and hearts than forcing them to do "good". Problem is that people have all different ideas of what "good" is.

If only people could rally around some kind of unified moral code......

I agree. Force will not win the day. You have to show people why and let them decide.

Thats the true danger really aint it? Handing off so many things to something else. Now that something else becomes something you cant live without. That tool or more accurately the people who make it now become your master.
And exactly the reason I went back to growing all my own meats!!

My kids know how but out of convenience they’re living in a microwave world and a generation is going to be skipped on passing it on.

In two generations folks will be so grocery store dependent thst they’ll need a number to stand in line for ground beef day during another pandemic.

Yes sir! The pandemic did a great job at showing folks just how complex it can be to get say a can of chili. If you can provide something for yourself then that is true power. Something folks have forgotten i think.

Certain people have done a good job of convincing people that being self sufficient the same as being selfish.

That is very true. Cant have people just doing their own thing off the collective farm now can we.

I skipped past the dirty word but you should see the first part.

 I watched the video. And don't EVEN get me started on "fact checking".

BTW I'm not artificial nor intelligent, but I could still come up with a much better poem about Hunter Biden. :sneaky:

I still don't understand why anybody thought that masonite would make good siding. But, hey, most new ideas are wrong. Gotta keep trying.
I've never heard of masonite siding. Maybe I've seen it but didn't realize it. The first house I remember living in had aluminum siding - is that still a thing? My neighborhood is all vinyl. Stucco is a big thing in Phoenix.

A lot of people forget that the root word of "consumer" is CONSUME. :(
We just say we are "buying" things and never give it a second thought. Of course, some people would say "that's CAPITALISM FOR YOU!" but whether the gub'mint or greed runs the show, X amount of consuming is still going on regardless.
