He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don't see
Tryin' hard to recreate
What had yet to be created once in her life

No doubt a classic. You tube Robbie Dupree "Steal Away" - it sounds a lot like this song, bordering on plagiarism. Similar beat, tempo, melody in certain parts - check it out and you'll see what I mean.

And for those DB fans who think McDonald is just too "yachty" and not "rock" enough, the DB song "Takin' it to The Streets" should dispel that theory.

We saw the Doobies with Michael McDonald this summer at Ameris. They still put on one heckuva show!

Love me some Doobie Brothers, all phases. Read up on former guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and his bio. Not only is he an incredible musician, but he's also a consultant to the Pentagon for their missile defense systems. Has one of the highest civilian military clearances in the country. South City Midnight Lady is one of my all time Doobie non-hit favorites.
