Not a replica but i have 2 ruger old army pistols I intend to use for close range shots during BP season. I think most of the replicas won't hold enough powder to make a clean kill on deer, unless u have a Walker replica.

I only have Navy 36cal pistols so no deer hunting with them. I think a Ruger old army or a Colt Dragoon or Walker could get the job done at close range. 20 to 30 yards would be tops though.

I believe the Ruger Old Army will generate enough energy for a good 50 yard shot, the Pietta 1858 Remington I would probably limit to 30 yards.
I believe I can stuff 50 grains of Triple 7 under a round ball in the Ruger and 35 in the Pietta.

I have an old army replica with a 12" barrel that gets the job done using conicals and 25 grains 777, in .45 cal.
