Hey Team, like many of you I’m getting pretty excited about my first Georgia Turkey hunt since moving back. I’ll be hunting my family’s 70 acre farm in Bartow County and I have 3 gobblers and half a dozen hens on cam/property so there is opportunity for sure.
I have 3 shotguns to choose from and would like some recommendation on which gun to use what choke. I’ve ran a few different turkey loads through all 3 with the tightest factory chokes and I’m still not getting acceptable groups. My options are all 12 gauge.
Benelli Montefeltro
Remington 11-87 Sportsman
Mossberg 835
The Mossberg is the only pump option and has the longest barrel. I’m comfortable with all three and have taken countless doves, ducks, and quail with them. There are a lot of aftermarket turkey chokes out there, spending money doesn’t bother me although a TSS choke and ammo seems unnecessary for my likely shot 50 yds and in.
Thoughts or real life feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
