Where did all my deer go?

I hunted a few evenings ago on a friend's farm.
I was sitting off a pasture/food plot/dove field.
I saw 24 deer including a decent 8 point.
No doubt some of the same deer left and came back but that was the most deer I have seen in a while.

So I guess my observation is deer are also on food plots.

Your deer ain't gon. They have found something close by that eats better than the corn pile.

Walk around and find it, and set up on it.

It ain't far.

Just this mornin i watched does walk right through my corn pile and set up under the white oak droppin. They ate acorns and browsed muscadine leaves. Never ate the corn. They'll eat it later in the year.

Acorns and food plots drawing all the attention at the moment, give it a couple weeks, they will be back on corn once acorns dry up.

Then find the bedding areas closest to the acorns and set up betwixt the two.

Yep. I don’t even use corn. And really don’t hunt food plots. My plots are for when the acorns are GON in December until things green back up. I hunt the woods. It’s like that doesn’t even occur to some folks to hunt where the deer are.
