Weeki Wachee

Hey folks,

Does anyone have experience in the Weeki Wachee area? My wife and I have rented a place on the river about a mile and half from the Gulf and I'm taking my JVX18 down with me.

I've never been to the area and was hoping someone might have some tips and/or pointers for trout, reds, line stretchers. :)

We rented kayaks and floated the river. It is very cool. Didn’t bring fishing gear but wish I had, river is full of fish. Saw tons of manatees.

Haven't been there in years, but if memory serves, the Weeki Wachee river is not well marked going to the gulf.
Very shallow areas, be careful!

Look at the charts carefully.
You'll see a very well marked channel going out of Crystal River and Homassasa.

Weeki Wachee is about 30 miles south of Homassasa.
Not showing a well marked channel.

Went to Homosassa last year and had a blast. Only lost one little piece of gelcoat. :) I'm that guy...super careful and idle only until I'm familiar. Thanks for the heads up and the info, guys.

I don't know about manatees...but the dang place is slap full of mermaids.
