I was a sophomore in high school sitting in my second period class. I heard a commotion down the hall way, the teacher in the next room over came running in crying and all disheveled. He said New York is being attacked, turn on your TVs. We watched coverage for 30 minutes and then we were sent home early from school. I knew several young men who signed up for the service later that week.

Was goose hunting on Quantico MCB at blind D by myself and shot a bunch of geese. Coming back in to the mouth of Chopowamsic creek, some MPs were standing there, asked if I did any good, then proceeded to tell me what happened and I had to leave the instillation because it was mission essential personnel only. The GW was by my truck and took my hunting pass, I95 was devoid of another vehicle. Got home, was recalled off leave, ended up getting a VA state police escort to Ft Myer, right past by the Pentagon that was on fire, pulled my gun and K9 and went to work in DC and VA chasing bomb threats all over the place.

My partner Rikk, taken right before 9/11

If they signed up (and got through the recruiting process, basic, and advanced job training) for the Army, they would have one long, hard career ahead of them! :cautious: Before 9/11 hardly any soldiers had a combat patch. Ten or fifteen years down the road, some soldiers had been back & forth to the sandbox six or seven times. :( You go where your unit goes! If you get back and then PCS to another unit that is ready to take their turn, it doesn't matter that the unit you were in just got back from doing their turn, you are going right back, but with your new unit. It's just the luck of the draw. What is frustrating is being sent back in a couple of years to the exact same spot in the sandbox you were two years ago, and nothing has changed. Nothing has improved, and it might be even more dangerous because the "bad actors" have improved their tactics & equipment. :(

A very sad day and a day of infamy for our country and the sorry president is in Alaska today instead of doing his patriotic duty. Impeach him now.
I'm glad that moron BUFFOON is no where near any of the sites.

He would only find a way to make it about himself all the while shuddering and stammering around and getting lost in space.

He is an embarrassment to our country every single time he makes an appearance. His "handlers" knew this and that's why he is 4000 miles away in Alaska.

GOOD.

Well the idiot is on TV now and IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM.

He's telling stories about him and his mama.

What a disgrace. He can't even complete a sentance.

Today in Alaska during a speech he said that he was at Ground Zero the day after the attack.
Turns out the FACTS say that he was in Washington DC on 12 September, all day long. Show of hands, who is surprised that he had to make it all about him? Please don't let that man ever give a speech about Pearl Harbor.

I remember driving to work that day and it may have been Paul Harvey that said the eastern seaboard was clear and blue. Anyway, I remember hearing that and I looked up and noticed it was a clear morning here in Ga as well. A few hours later when I heard that a plane had crashed into the tower I knew right then it was no accident. What a terrible day that was.

I was stationed in Germany at the time, and my preteen son knew this was a very big deal. He saved a Stars & Stripes newspaper the day after - with an iconic headline & picture of the event of course - and put it in a document protector, and still has it.
