After having my left hand cut on a few days ago to correct some issues and in an attempt to keep it dry and clean till the stitches come out I spent a dreary morning just loafering in the mountains near my house.
I drove up a splendid little watershed and it reminded me how much we need some rain around here. Purposely I left my fly rod at home because I knew I'd be tempted. I was able to spot a dozen or so stocked trout stacked in a hole headed up the creek.
As I drove on up the mountain there were wild flowers along the road. Morning Glory, Scarlet Beebalm(not pictured), Phlox, Coneflowers etc etc...
This ol' Mountain cabin is slowly being retaken by nature.
I'd bet a crisp hundred dollar bill that this Black Locust will be gone by the weekend. Somebody will have this cut and split for firewood.
This 20' waterfall is more of a trickle at the moment but hopefully will get a drink this evening.
Here, Ferns are carpeting the forest floor beneath the Birch, Maple and Hemlocks.
Loafering is an underated past time and I imagine when I'm old and grey and unable to hunt and fish in these mountains the way I do now that this may be the way I spend most my days.
