FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The heavily populated deer woods surrounding Pike County, Al. will be filled with approximately 110 disabled hunters December 8-11 2011. Many of these hunters will be anxiously waiting to fill their tags while others are hoping to get a glimpse of their first whitetail. This group of hunters will be participating in the Forth Annual 2011 Alabama “Ultimate Adventure Deer Hunt” hosted by the Outdoors Without Limits (OWL) National program and the OWL Pike County Al. Chapter.

The Cattleman’s Association in Troy, Al. will be serving as the events base of operations. “We’re looking forward to great time. We’re hoping to host approximately 150 deserving kids and adults with various disabilities this year. These people can’t go and come like others, they need help”, said Pike County President Terry McPherson . “So far we have had a lot of interest again this from people wanting to get involved. We have some more land owners that want to donate their property for the hunt and we have some more volunteers. Again, this just proves the point that there are some great caring folks around here. We couldn’t do it without help. Of course, we certainly want and need more help.

Each disabled participate will be paired with at least one non-disabled guide. “The formation of hunting team’s is where it starts and happens. Its teamwork and it’s where the rubber hits the road”, said Kirk Thomas CEO/Founder. “Guides and volunteers will interact with the participants on a one on one basis to form a team. They’ll work together to overcome any challenge the hunting opportunity presents. They might get wet and muddy but they’ll make it happen. The disabled participants just want the opportunity to get out there and their guides just want to help. It doesn’t take long to see and understand this. We blessed to bring this event to Pike County again. It just get’s bigger and better each year. This fall OWL we are hosting additional “Ultimate Adventure Deer Hunts” in MS., SC., FL. and AL. The AL., said Thomas.

To go along with the hunting, the event is full of an abundance of scheduled activities that are open to the public. There’s a “Kick off Dinner” scheduled Friday night beginning at 5:30. Friday night December 9th there will be a “Welcome Party and Benefit” starting at 5:30. Saturday night will be the “Appreciation Dinner” We’ve decided to change things up a little Saturday night but we’ll leave it as a surprise for now, said Thomas.

“It’s going to be a very busy event, full of fun, excitement and great food. We want people to come be a part of this great life changing and saving experience.

If you would like additional information or to volunteer for the AL. “Ultimate Adventure” or other “Ultimate Adventure” events please contact Kirk Thomas at 803.480.0167. Your involvement and help would be greatly appreciated.
