Sure did. I think they can lose 10%,or more of their body weight when rutting. No telling how many miles he has travelled ;)

Good luck old man. And I mean that to him and all of us folks carrying some years and more than a few battle scars so to speak. Been a good season and while we are somewhere between the early fall and late winter of life we ain't done yet.

That’s the type of buck that gets me going personally.
Horns are cool and all, but catching a 5+ YO buck (or doe) slipping up is the “Chess Match” I prefer.

Talk about a challenge, and plenty of meat if you’re able to connect with one.

I said in the OP that I had never seen the old warrior. I saw a large body buck one morning in early December before it was light enough to see well. I was hunting in his home territory. I think it was him. I didn’t take the shot.
