Any tips on cast netting shad in Sinclair this time of year.

Hoping to catch some and go fishing for catfish. Also, anyone have a recommended size net and mesh? I only fish the north end of the lake near Wallace Dam.

I know some on Sinclair castnet early in the morning, mostly around the bridges and catch a good many. I catch them off my dock. Allthough it's not something I can depend on. The spring is usually a good time. If you know how to throw a net, I would go with atleast 8ft with 3/8 mesh.

Im not the most experienced, I was asking the same thing here around this time two years ago…but since then, I can usually catch enough bait to fish with. As things start to warm in the spring I’ve had luck up very shallow in the backs of coves and creeks. Look for them flickering and making little rings on the water surface if it’s calm.

Nothing to it…sling around bridges or rip rap if you can’t find ‘em on top…
