Good evening all, I wanted to bring some light on the deer feed questions I have recieved and post answers on here for everyone. We are a professional wildlife mgt corp and have over 16 yrs directly dealing with deer health programs.Let chat about deer feeds. First most of the stuff you see avertised in the pages of local and state sporting mags is no where close to being top quality deer feed.Your mom and pop feed stores and some of these individule guys with no deer ruminant experience at all are selling what they advertise as professional mixes for prices like $280.00 $320.00 This is not correct. We do this for a living and you cannot produce a top quality feed and retail it for those prices. With the cost of top level ingredients at an all time high now, no way. We have tested several of those mixes for a couple of our clients and the levels of TDN average from lows of 51 % to 60 %Lets look at this a moment. There are a few top US companies that make a good feed and yes there are alot better out there. Do you think top professional operations buy poor quality stuff like this or buy the checker board stuff in volumes. NO.. Ask the guy to provide a TDN sheet and exclusion rate on your next purchase.First ask if their feeds are haccp approved. Ask what type and levels of Vitamins, Probiotics are in the feed?.Are they using chelated minerals and vitamins ?Do they have anti parisitics in the feed? What is done to increase milk fats in does for their fawns? And a quick not on fats in deer feed.If you have a guy telling you need high amounts of fats he is wrong. Why, Deer do not have Gall bladders and cannot process these high levels. 3% is good and 4% is about max. When you see product with6,8 and 12% fats it not good.Thes high amounts of fats become intake limiters and reduces the bodys availability to process them as well as affecting other macro, micronutrient uptake. Now Protein it very important but free range deer do not need levels higher than 19%We see stuff like 22, 26 and higher offered. It makes them have diahera and loose stools, Not healthy, and be cautious about what type of protein is used. We see animal byproducts used. This is dangerous as well . Make sure the feed has a balance of bypass proteins as well. Hey guys we are here to help you out and answer any of your deer health questions. We are also the manufactures of MONSTER RAXX FEEDS and minerals. We promiss to give you the highest levels of nutrition, quality, palletability in all of our products. Please feel free to ask or post any of you deer health and nutrition questions. We all want quality deer, Big bucks and healthy does. We look forward to your questions guys.
