Fruit Tree Nurseries in Southeast GA

I want to buy some fruit trees to plant on my farm in Southeast GA, but the one nursery I found in Ty Ty Georgia got awful reviews. Does anyone know of a good nursery in Georgia to buy crabapple, plums, pear trees etc?

Can't help but will reaffirm to stay away from Ty TY Nursery. Be aware that it operates under many different names.

You might start out by checking the Market Bulletin.

Anyone done business with Willis Orchard Co. in Berlin, GA?

How about Johnson's in Ellijay?

Good or bad????

Have been looking at buying more trees this year. Jujubes, Asian pears, plums and Fuyu persimmons are on my list.

The pear and apple trees I bought from Edward Fort Nursery two years ago are doing great! Got a few pears this year off the Doc specials and the Trophy's I planted. Next year should be awesome!

What's the deal with TyTy? Their website is a bit strange--Where did you find the bad reviews?
Thanks for the heads up!

I've done business with Johnsons for nearly 30 years and first class people in every way.

Take a look at a bunch of Ty Ty Nursery pictures, and see if you notice a "theme" in people pictured.

Check out;

This is the leading mail order garden supply review site, "Aarons" is one of many names Ty Ty operates under.

TyTY threaten to sue the site because of so many bad reviews. Do a search at Daves on "tyty" (one word) and look at the note at the bottom of the page.

Read all the comments in that one for sure.

History of reviews on Gardenwatchdog;

I remember years ago when they had a file on the Garden Watchdog website (public company experience discussions, for purposes of consumer protection), and it was about 90% negative comments, a long page full of very angry customer responses. Ty Ty Nursery became aware of the website. Representatives / affiliates from Ty Ty Nursery would then create a bunch of accounts, and post positive responses to try and stem off the flow of active negative commentary from former customers. The moderator of the Garden Watchdog site caught on (most of the positive reports were posted from the same internet IP address; a single computer) and began to neutralize the false positives.

Then Ty Ty got the lawyers involved and forced Garden Watchdog to shut down their entry on Ty Ty Nursery altogether, under threat of libel (even though it was simply an open public forum, and all negative accounts were from individual, genuinely swindled customers). That is why you won't find a file on this company at Garden Watchdog anymore, even though they are a predominant internet nursery presence.

25-06,
Thanks for the info. Did some looking last night and saw the negatives on TyTy. They definitely have a strange website! Will steer clear of them for sure. FYI-Willis Orchards is very close to Tyty and had bad reviews as well.

Thanks for the advice on Johnson's.
--BTW, have gotten a kick out of your "poor bullet performance" thread.

Gone but not forgotten.
If you want seedlings and are planting them for wildlife use arborgen. Im gonna start planting some wildlife orchards this year and ordered seedlings from them last year and even after not being able to take care of them this summer and letting competition grow up around them i have still gotten about 94% survival rate.

This one is not in Georgia but is a GREAT source of information for apples and pears. I have bought many trees from him and have been very satisfied with the trees.

I went to this web site last night, it is a great site. I e-mailed David here and he responed last night. I am going to order some trees from them. Look at the wildlife part for apples, they have trees that will drop all the way to Dec.:fine:

I wouldn't plant anything right now unless you got a water hose running to it! Save your money...unless the weather pattern has a dramatic change this is not the year to plant anything!!

I deal with Ison's Nursery. Great plants, and they know what they are talking about. If you want to talk to somebody there about what varities suit your needs, they are willing to talk to you until you are ready to decide. If they don't think you'll be happy, they won't try to talk you into buying things.
