As I recollect, if your State and local jurisdiction has no prohibition and you can find one (they stopped making new ones for public sale in ‘86 I believe) that you can afford (again the supply is limited because of no new ones for public sale since ‘86) you fill out a form similar to the one for a SBR (with a check for 200$) and send it to BATF.
Easy peasy.
And the ’86 limit applies to sears and other “ makes it a machine gun” items.
Thats my remembrance of it.

Pawn shop guy is wrong. If it’s a pre ban machine gun and your dealer can handle the transaction, it’s the same as a suppressor or SBR. The only difference is, while you can construct suppressors or SBRs as a normal person, you cannot build “machine guns” (Form 1 v. Form 4)

He’s wrong. You can get a pre-ban full auto with a $200 tax stamp, as long as your state allows them.
