Hardest kicking Deer Rifles !

I’m just talking deer calibers.
My hardest was a 308 pump Remington. It was my dads. To sight it in or check. You drew the short straw.
I just heard this convo so I thought it would be sone good talk.

Savage mod 10 270WSM. Kicked like a mule until I put a Limbsaver recoil pad on it.
I love that rifle.

Shot a Mcwhorter "muzzleloader", 325gr projectile. Even with the muzzlebreak was the loudest, hardest kicking gun I have fired. Not fun to shoot, but extremely accurate and deadly.

Maybe it was just loud, but the first time I shot a 30/30 I though it kicked like a mule!

My uncle passed down a Win 300 Mag to me. Shoot it a couple times to see if the scope sighted in. Was enough for me, passed it on to another family member. No need for that type punishment to kill a deer.

Not a rifle...but my dad had a Ithaca featherlight 12 ga with a slug barrel. He could hit an oil can at 100yds with open sights. But man that gun sure did pack a punch.

My hardest hitting is a Browning AB3 7-08. I know it sounds crazy but I’ve shot all kinds of different calibers and even own a 7mag and none hits as hard as this lil kids gun

ive got a 20 and a 12 ithaca featherlight that ive used for doves and ducks....they do pack a punch with a high brass 7.5

interesting....i have the same exact rifle. it kicks pretty good, but I wouldnt say its near the hardest ive ever shot. but like you, I love that rifle and hunt with it 95% of the time

Hardest kicking rifle I had was a Browning BBR in .30-06. Kicked like a mule. Stock ergonomics are so important and as @4HAND stated quality recoil pads like Pachmayr Decelerator and Limbsaver help a lot. A .270 WSM is a thing a beauty if you can find and afford ammo!

3.5' 12 GA has more recoil than Win Mag 458!

A Ruger M77 compact stainless in synthetic pencil barrel 7mm-08 is the worst kicking rifle I've ever shot. I've had 300 win and wsm's that didn't kick as hard. The stock is a youth size type stock and for adults it is rough to say the least.

My grandpas Winchester 670 in 30-06 will rattle your fillings. I still have it, haven’t hunted with it in years though.

3.5' 12 GA has more recoil than Win Mag 458!

Ya, I had to learn to keep my right thumb on the right side of the pistol grip instead of letting it cross over and smash my nose. Made it awful hard to concentrate on smashing ducks instead.
Went back to my three inch pump.

I've come to the conclusion that a good 2.75 or 3 inch load will kill coyotes just as dead.

My 45/70 has bout as much recoil as I care for...
Moreso than my 300 WBY.
