How to be a crappie fisherman?

@Dutch , if I'm fishing a live minnow on a jig, should I be dead sticking it?

You can. I rarely tip my jigs with minnows, but it is a effective to add "meat" to a jig. I usually only do this during the winter and cold water (when we get for cold water here in Georgia:bounce:) or when I am "pushing" structure.

When I fish minnows I use a slip float set-up and hook the minnow just under the rear of the dorsal fin and cast it over brush.

Slayed 'em this morning on brush in 14-18 feet of water. They wanted small bait: Best was 1/32 jig with BG Itty Bitty Swim-R in monkey milk, also sowbug color trout magnet. Kept 6 huge slabs for tacos; biggest was 1.5 lbs.
